Nassda's HSIM Adopted by Sirific Wireless for RF Design Verification
Top-Level Simulation Helps Sirific Wireless Achieve First-Silicon Success
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nassda Corporation today announced that Sirific Wireless Corporation has adopted Nassda's HSIM(TM) full-chip simulation and analysis tool for top-level verification of its GHz frequency wireless semiconductor designs.
"With traditional SPICE simulators, verification of medium-size design blocks is difficult and time-consuming, and top-level verification is an even greater challenge," said Bryan Bell, Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Sirific Wireless. "HSIM has reduced overall simulation time and enabled verification of our circuits at both the multi-block and chip level."
HSIM enabled Sirific engineers to complete SPICE-quality timing and power analysis on complete blocks, including an entire dual-mixer transceiver containing low pass filters. Sirific engineers used HSIM to complete detailed timing and power analysis on a 60K transistor design in only 3.3 hours. Traditional SPICE simulators would need two or three days to deliver a similar timing and power analysis, and such an analysis would be restricted to smaller circuits due to the limited capacity of traditional SPICE simulators. HSIM helped Sirific achieve first-silicon success for this new design fabricated in a CMOS process.
"Sirific's multi-mode radio frequency integrated circuits target portable applications at frequencies up to 5 GHz, so detailed analysis is essential," continued Bell. "These analysis results help Sirific reduce design cycles and provide our customers with more robust products."
"Advanced wireless designs require extensive analysis to increase confidence in design success, and leading wireless semiconductor companies such as Sirific Wireless will need verification tools able to deliver detailed results quickly," said Sang Wang, CEO of Nassda. "We're pleased to help Sirific Wireless achieve first-silicon success for its complex wireless designs."
About HSIM
HSIM provides detailed circuit-level analysis of timing and power behavior and signal integrity effects. It solves the critical issue of analyzing circuit behavior while taking into account the electrical and parasitic effects of nanometer-scale silicon. It is ideal for demanding analog, memory, mixed-signal and system-on-chip designs.
